It is spring... so let's talk about spring skiing. It is that time of the year when you can ski in a t-shirt or even in a swimsuit if you want to.
I just came back from a spring ski trip in California, and I did ski in a swimsuit... and now i am an octopus that looks like a lobster... all red :).
It is May already, and the number of resorts still open in North America is limited, but there are a few places where you can still ski:
- California is as every year the spring ski capital with both Mammoth Mountain and Squaw Valley - Alpine Meadows being open until July 7th. The Ski Octopus just visited both locations, and he will write about it in a separate post. Donner Ski Ranch and Heavenly Mountain Resort are also open until May 26th.
- Utah: Snowbird is still open and it is expected to be open until May 26th.
- The East: As every year, the only ski resort open at this time of the year is Killington in Vermont.
- Oregon: Mount Bachelor is open until May 26th, while Timberline Lodge (Mount Hood) will be open almost year round as usual. The Ski Octopus will write more about Timberline Lodge in another post so stay tuned.
Please check in advance with the resort in case you want to go ski.. as the conditions may change at any moment.
